The meeting started at 10:30 am and the agenda was accepted.
H.E. Joel Wassi Adechi, Ambassador of the Republic of Benin was nominated President of the Committee.
After a long discussion, the Committee decided to admit the following candidates to the Sergio Vieira Di Mello Promotion:

The Candidacies of Mr. Assane Cisse, Mrs. Caroline Elemine, Mr. Krisel Malana, Mr. Jean Orandaza,, Mrs. Eliane Paccoret et Mr. Thaddée Yossa will be re-considered in the next meeting of the Selection Committee scheduled on 1 November at United Nations.
At 12:30pm, in a solemn ceremony, Mr. Pérez handed five diplomas of Doctorate in Peace Administration honoris causa to high -ranking officers, namely:
• H.E. Mr. Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations
- H.E. Mr Nelson Mandela, Former President of the Republic of South
Africa
• M. Jean Gazarian, Senior Associate of Institute of Training and Research of the United Nations (UNITAR) and Former Director of Secretariat of the Assembly General of the United Nations.
• Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, "'Homme d'Etat", the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam
• Mr. Faustin Dahito, the Republic of Benin.
The President closed the meeting at 13:00pm.
